If you want to sell gold near me, you will meet four kinds of buyer: jeweller showrooms, chain branches, resellers and home-pickup buyers. Run five checks that take two minutes, then get two quotes, one from a jeweller who exchanges and one from a cash buyer. The buyer who shows you the test, the weight and the rate openly is the one to sell to.

We are Cash for gold - Sona Do Paise Lo, in Noida Extension (Greater Noida West), and our pickups cover Delhi NCR. This post is about choosing any buyer, including us. Take your time with it. Nothing has to happen today.

Who will I meet when I look for a buyer?

Search for a buyer and four kinds of business come up. They work differently, and the difference affects what you are offered.

  • Jeweller showrooms that exchange. You bring old gold and put the value toward new jewellery. This suits you if you already plan to buy a piece. It suits you less if you want money in hand.
  • Chain branches. They have a fixed process and a name you may know. The process is steady, but the branch may be far from your home, and the counter staff usually cannot change much.
  • Resellers and small buyers. These range from careful to careless. Some are excellent. Some say little and show less. The checks below matter most here.
  • Home-pickup buyers. They come to you. That saves a trip, but you hand your gold to someone in your own living room. For that reason it needs more checking, not less. Our post on whether home pickup is safe covers it.

None of these is wrong by default. A showroom can be fair and a pickup buyer can be careless. What matters is how the buyer behaves when you ask.

How do I sell gold near me without picking the wrong buyer?

Run these five checks before you hand anything over. Each takes about two minutes. Together they tell you most of what you need.

  1. Ask for the rate and the purity before you show anything. A buyer who answers plainly, by phone or WhatsApp, is a good sign. A buyer who says "come and see" with no number is not.
  2. Watch the test. Your gold should be tested on a karatmeter in front of you, not taken to a back room. Here is how a reading is taken.
  3. Watch the weighing. The scale should be visible and the reading shown to you. Stones and enamel weigh something, so expect the number to read a little less than you thought. Why the weight reads less.
  4. Ask for the three numbers. Purity, weight and the rate used. The figure for your piece comes from those three, worked out at the counter once the gold is tested. If a buyer will not name them, stop. See the three numbers to ask for.
  5. Ask how and when you are paid. The answer should be clear before you agree to anything. How payment is made.

A good buyer also asks for photo ID. That is not a bad sign. It protects you and the buyer. Why a shop asks for ID.

If any answer feels slippery, you may leave. Keep your gold in your hand until you are satisfied.

Which two quotes are worth getting?

Ten quotes will not help you. Two will.

First, a jeweller's exchange value. If you already know the shop where you might buy new jewellery, ask what they would credit for your old gold. Ask what that credit is based on. Also ask whether the making charge on the new piece changes with the exchange. This tells you what the exchange route is really worth to you.

Second, a cash buyer's quote. Take the same piece to a buyer who pays in cash and ask for the three numbers. Now you have two answers to the same question.

Put them side by side. The higher number is not always the better offer, because the exchange value only helps if you were going to buy jewellery anyway. If you want cash, compare cash with cash. If you want new jewellery, compare the two credits. For the full comparison, read cash for gold, or exchange at a jeweller. To see why two shops can differ on the same gold, read why two shops quote different rates.

Do I need a bill or a hallmark to sell?

Many people searching for a buyer worry about this before anything else. Old family jewellery often has no bill and sometimes no stamp.

A missing bill does not stop a sale. The buyer tests the gold, and the test decides the purity, not the paper. A stamp helps, but it is not the final word either; the reading is. Read selling without a bill and what a karat stamp does not tell you.

Bring photo ID. Bring any bill you do have. That is the whole list. The what to bring post has the rest.

Should I sell, or keep the gold?

Only you can decide that. Some people sell because the gold sits unused. Some need money for a fee, a repair or a medical bill. Others should think about a gold loan instead, because they want the gold back. We wrote about that choice in sell the gold or take a gold loan.

Whichever you choose, be wary of anyone who pushes you to decide quickly. A buyer who is sure of their offer does not need to press. You can go home, think, and come back.

Counter or pickup: which suits me?

If you live near Noida Extension, the counter is usually the simpler route. You see the test, the scale and the paperwork yourself. The locality page has the address and what the visit looks like. Our post on pickup or the counter explains when a pickup makes more sense.

If you are in Noida proper, such as Sector 18, Sector 75 or the Expressway sectors, see our Noida page. In Delhi, see Delhi.

When you sell gold near me style searches turn up a long list, the nearest shop is not automatically the best. A short trip to a buyer who shows everything beats a shorter one to a buyer who shows nothing. We cover that in how to pick the shop that is actually near you.

If you would like to ask us a question first, call or WhatsApp 9217742656 and tell us what you have. We can tell you what the visit involves before you travel. Questions people ask

What is the safest way to sell old gold? Choose a buyer who tests the gold on a karatmeter in front of you, shows the weight, and names the rate. Do not hand over gold until those three are on view.

Should I get more than one quote before I sell gold near me? Yes, two. One from a jeweller who exchanges and one from a cash buyer. Ask each for purity, weight and rate so the two are comparable.

Can I call before I come? Yes. Call or WhatsApp 9217742656 with a short description of the piece. We can explain the process and what to bring. The figure for your gold is worked out only after it is tested at the counter.
