If you want to sell gold near me from Indirapuram, Vaishali, Vasundhara or Kaushambi, expect the scale to read less than the set weighed at home. Stones, meena, lac fill, clasps that are not gold, solder and dirt are taken off before weighing, so a set you carry as 10 grams can show 8.4 grams of gold. You can watch each step, and nothing has to be agreed until you have seen the number.

We are Cash for Gold - Sona Do Paise Lo, in Greater Noida West (Noida Extension), and our pickups cover Delhi NCR. This post is for the belt across the Hindon. If you want the wider picture first, start with the Indirapuram page or the Ghaziabad page.

Why does the weight read less when I sell gold near me?

Because the weight you remember includes things that are not gold. A jeweller's tag or your own kitchen scale weighs the whole piece. A buyer pays for the gold in it. Those are two different numbers.

What comes off before the piece goes on the scale:

  • Stones and beads. We do not buy stones. They are removed, or their weight is kept out of the gold weight.
  • Meena (enamel) and lac. The coloured work and the lac packed inside hollow pieces carry weight but no gold.
  • Clasps and screws that are not gold. Some are steel or brass.
  • Solder and dirt. Old joints and years of oil and skin sit on the metal.

Add these up on a heavy set and the gap is easy to reach. A set that weighs 10 grams as you carry it can hold 8.4 grams of gold. The 1.6 grams in between was never gold. It was in the weight on the day you bought the set, too.

The longer version is in Stones, meena and clasps: the parts that are not gold and Why the weight on the buyer's scale is less than you expected.

What do Indirapuram sets usually lose on the scale?

People in Ahinsa Khand, Niti Khand, Nyay Khand, Gyan Khand, Vaibhav Khand and Shipra Suncity often bring wedding sets. Vaishali and Vasundhara sellers often bring the same: necklace sets with matching earrings, and tikkas. Kaushambi families bring a mix of chains and bangles.

The sets that lose the most weight are:

  1. Meena and kundan-style necklace sets. Colour work and set stones take the largest share.
  2. Pendants and earrings with stones. The stone is small, but the setting around it holds lac.
  3. Hollow bangles with lac inside. The lac is heavy and you cannot see it.

Plain chains and plain bangles lose little. If your piece is plain, a gap of more than a trace should make you ask why.

How do I watch the weighing so nothing is hidden?

Ask for these steps, in this order. Any buyer worth selling to will say yes.

  1. The whole piece goes on the scale first. You see the number that matches what you expected.
  2. Each non-gold part is pointed out and taken off. Stones, meena, lac, the clasp. If a part cannot be removed, the buyer tells you how it is allowed for.
  3. The gold goes on the scale again. The number is read out loud, and you see the display yourself.
  4. The karatmeter reading is taken on the same gold, with you watching. Purity is a separate number from weight. See how the reading is taken.
  5. Only then is the figure for your piece worked out. Weight, purity and the day's rate are the three inputs, and you may ask to see each one.

If you feel the gap is wrong, say so at step 3. You can ask for the weighing to be repeated, and you can pick the piece up and walk out with it. That is the point of watching.

Should I clean or fix the set before I sell it?

No. Do not pull stones out yourself, and do not scrub or polish the piece. You may damage it, and it makes no difference to the gold weight we pay on. Bring it as it is, with any loose stones or broken parts in the same pouch. If a clasp has fallen off, bring that too, because it may be gold.

Gold you never weighed at purchase, or purana sona from a grandmother's box, works the same way. For terms in Hindi, see the gold bechna hai page.

Is it better to sell gold near me by pickup or at the counter?

For a plain chain or two plain bangles, a pickup is easy. The same weighing happens at your door, with the same scale and the same karatmeter, in front of you. Home pickup covers the whole belt, usually the same half-day.

For a heavy stone-and-meena set, the counter is the better choice if you can manage it. You can stand next to the scale, take your time, and watch the parts come off on a clear table. The route is NH-24 / Delhi-Meerut Expressway side towards Crossings Republik, then into Greater Noida West. It is about 20 to 30 minutes outside peak hours (map estimate). Bring a family member if you like. Details on getting here are on the visit us page.

Your area also has a Muthoot and several jeweller showrooms that take old gold as exchange. Whoever you pick, ask for the same steps. For why exchange and cash can differ, see Cash for gold, or exchange it at a jeweller. Our cash for gold page explains how we pay.

What if I am not happy with the number?

Then nothing happens. You are not asked to sign anything, and you can take the gold back, whole and unchanged. Take your time. You can get a second quote, and we would rather you did than sold feeling unsure. If you would like to ask before you come, call or WhatsApp 9217742656 with a photo of the set and we will tell you which parts are likely to come off.

For how the rate and weight turn into a figure, read Cash for gold: the three numbers that decide what you are paid. Our locality page for Noida Extension lists the counter details.

Questions people ask

Why does my gold weigh less at the shop than at home? Because the shop weighs only the gold. Stones, meena, lac, non-gold clasps, solder and dirt are taken off or left out of the gold weight. A 10 gram set can read 8.4 grams of gold.

Can I watch my gold being weighed? Yes. You see the whole piece weighed, the parts that are not gold removed, and the gold weighed again, with the display in front of you.

Do you pay for stones on a set? No. We buy gold only. Stones are not bought, and their weight is kept out of the gold weight. If you want to ask about a particular piece, call or WhatsApp 9217742656.
