If you want to sell gold for cash in Noida Extension, ask any buyer for three separate numbers: the purity on the karatmeter screen, the weight after stones and clasps, and today's rate for that purity. A buyer who gives you only one total has hidden all three. Do not hand over your gold until you have seen each number.

We are at Shop 25, French Arcade, Sector 16B, Greater Noida West, and our name is Cash for Gold - Sona Do Paise Lo. Pickups cover Delhi NCR. This post is for sellers in Gaur City, Sector 16 and the other sectors around us. The three numbers apply at any counter, ours included. The wider picture is on the Noida Extension page.

What are the three numbers I should ask for before I sell?

Every gold payout comes from the same three inputs:

  1. Purity, read off a karatmeter, in karat or as a number like 916.
  2. Net weight, in grams, after the parts that are not gold are removed.
  3. Today's rate for that purity, per gram.

The buyer multiplies them. If you see only the final figure, you cannot tell which input is weak. Ask for each one by itself. A buyer who is happy with the work will show you.

How do I check the purity on the karatmeter screen?

Stand where you can see the screen. At our counter the screen faces you. At a shop where the screen faces the buyer, ask them to turn it.

  • Watch the piece being tested, not a different piece brought from the back.
  • Read the number yourself. It should match the karat the buyer says aloud.
  • For a chain or bangle, ask for a second reading on another spot of the same piece.

Purana sona often reads a little under the stamp. That is common with old pieces and repairs. Your family's 22 karat necklace may read slightly lower on the screen than the number on the clasp. The reading is what counts, so ask to see it. For the full steps, read how a karatmeter reading is taken. If the reading comes in lower than the stamp, this post explains why.

Why does the weight come out lower than what my jeweller told me?

The scale reads everything on it. Gold is only part of that. Jhumkas often carry stones or moti. Lockets carry enamel (meena). Chains have clasps and lac-filled hollow pieces sometimes sit inside bangles. A buyer does not pay gold rates for those parts, and we do not buy stones at all.

So there are two weights:

  • Gross weight: everything on the scale.
  • Net weight: the gold only, after stones and clasps are accounted for.

Ask for both, in grams. The scale should face you so you can read it. Put the piece on yourself if you like. If you want to know why the number drops, see stones, meena and clasps.

Sellers in this area often bring wedding sets from the last few years, with stone-heavy jhumkas and temple jewellery. Those lose the most weight to non-gold parts. Plain chains, kadas and bangles lose the least.

What is "today's rate" and which one should I ask for?

The rate in the news is a market figure. What matters is the rate for your purity, on the day, at that counter. It will be different for 22 karat and 18 karat. Ask:

  • Which purity is this rate for?
  • Per gram, or per some other unit?
  • Does it change if I walk out and return later?

You can look at the day's gold rate before you leave home. Then you know roughly where a fair quote should sit. It is not your payout. Why the published rate is not your payout explains the gap.

What does a buyer hide when they give only a total?

A single total can hide a lower purity, a smaller net weight, or a rate under the day's rate for your karat. It can hide all three at once. You cannot compare it with another shop because you do not know what went into it.

Buyers on the Gaur City side are mostly branches of Delhi chains. Many are honest. Still, the sensible habit is the same everywhere: ask for the three numbers, write them down, and compare. If a shop will not show you one of them, that tells you what you need to know. Why two shops quote different rates covers how to read the difference.

Should I come to the counter or ask for a pickup?

Most people from Gaur City 1 and 2, Gaur Chowk (Char Murti), Ek Murti Chowk, Sectors 1, 4 and 16, Tech Zone 4, Amrapali Dream Valley and Leisure Valley, or across the road at Crossings Republik reach us in about ten to fifteen minutes (map estimate). From Bisrakh Road, Kisan Chowk, Patwari or Vaidpura the trip is similar. We are open 9 am to 10 pm, every day.

The counter is the better choice for the three numbers. You see the screen, the scale and the rate board, with nothing between you and them. A pickup makes sense if you would rather not carry gold on the road, for example a full set with no safe way to travel. Then call or WhatsApp 9217742656 and ask us to explain how the readings are shown at your door. Pickup or the counter lays out the choice.

How do I know the buyer is not just telling me what I want to hear?

Run a quick test before you agree to anything:

  • Ask for purity, net weight and rate, each in its own sentence.
  • Ask the buyer to point to where on the screen or scale you can see it.
  • Ask what changes if you decide to go elsewhere. The answer should be "nothing".

You do not have to decide on the spot. Nothing has to happen today. Take the three numbers home, check them against another shop, and come back if they hold. When you want to sell gold for cash, a buyer who lets you walk out with the numbers is a buyer you can return to.

Questions people ask

What should I ask for when I sell gold for cash? Ask for the purity from the karatmeter, the net weight in grams, and the rate for that purity. A fair buyer will show each one separately.

Why does my gold weigh less at the shop than at home? The shop removes stones, enamel and clasps before it counts gold weight. Your kitchen scale reads everything together.

Can I get the three numbers on WhatsApp first? You can send a photo and the stamp details to 9217742656. A final figure needs the piece tested on the karatmeter at the counter.
