Gold sell: the three numbers to ask for

Selling gold in Greater Noida West? Ask us about your piece before you decide.
Call 9217742656WhatsAppBefore any gold sell, ask for three numbers: the purity on the karatmeter screen, the weight after stones and clasps, and the rate for that purity. A buyer who gives only one total is not showing you how it was made. We are Cash for Gold - Sona Do Paise Lo, in Noida Extension (Greater Noida West), and pickups cover Delhi NCR.
Before a gold sell, which three numbers should I ask for?
Every payout is built from the same three inputs. If you can see all three, you can judge the offer. If you can see only the total, you are guessing.
- Purity, read on the karatmeter screen.
- Weight, counted after the parts that are not gold are taken out.
- Rate, the rate for that purity, not a general headline rate.
The figure for your piece is worked out at the counter once these are known. It is not worked out in advance and it is not guessed from a photo. Ask for each number to be said aloud and shown, one at a time.
How do I check the purity at the counter?
Purity is how much of the piece is gold. Your stamp may say 22 karat or 916. The stamp is a claim. The karatmeter reading is a measurement.
At the table, check these things:
- The piece is tested in front of you, not taken to a back room.
- You can see the screen yourself, not only hear the result.
- The reading is for your piece, and a reading from another piece is not reused.
Old pieces can read a little lower than the stamp. Solder, wear and repairs all play a part. This is normal, and it is why the reading matters more than the stamp. If the reading and the stamp disagree, read what happens if your gold tests lower than the stamp says. For the steps of the test, see how a karatmeter reading is taken.
A buyer who says "it is around 20" or "it is mixed" without a screen is hiding the number that decides everything else.
Is the weight they quote the whole piece or only the gold?
This is where most of the difference between two offers comes from. A chain with a heavy clasp, a bangle with lac inside, or earrings with stones all weigh more on the scale than the gold in them. Stones, meena and lac are not gold, and we do not buy stones.
Ask the buyer to do two things:
- Show you the full weight on the scale.
- Say what is being taken out, and show you the weight after it is taken out.
Then you know how many grams of gold are being paid for. A buyer who gives only a total may have taken out too much, or may have taken out nothing and priced the stones in as if they were gold. You cannot tell which, and that is the point.
If the grams are fewer than you expected, the reason is nearly always one of these parts. Read stones, meena and clasps: the parts that are not gold and why the weight on the buyer's scale is less than you expected. If your family counted in tola, see tola, ratti and grams so you compare like with like.
Which gold rate should I ask for?
Ask for the rate for your purity, on that day. The rate in the news is for the purest gold. A 22 karat piece is paid at a rate for 22 karat, and a buyer should be able to say which one they are using.
You can check the published rate yourself on our gold rate page before you go. Nothing has to happen today. Look at the rate, then decide. Read why the published rate is not your payout to see why the shop's rate and the headline rate differ.
If a buyer says "the rate is high today" and gives no number, ask for the number. If they will not give it, that tells you what you need to know.
What do buyers around here usually do with these numbers?
In Noida Extension, Gaur City and nearby societies, many first-time sellers hear one total, often over the phone or from a quick look. The total sounds fine because nobody has the other three numbers to set it against. Some buyers also weigh with the stones and clasps on, and then say the weight "came down" later.
You do not need to argue with anyone. Ask the same three questions at every place, and write the answers down. Then a second visit is a comparison, not a guess. For how to do that, should you get a second quote before you sell your gold and why two shops quote you different rates on the same gold are worth ten minutes.
A gold sell is also a good time to bring your ID, since any honest buyer will ask for it. See what to bring when you sell gold. A missing bill is not a reason to stop. Read selling gold when you do not have the original bill.
Can I ask for this over WhatsApp, or only at the counter?
You can ask for the rate and the process by message. You cannot get the purity or the weight without the piece in front of someone, so any total sent by message before testing is an estimate at best.
If you want to talk it through first, call or WhatsApp 9217742656. You can ask what the test looks like, how the weight is taken, and which rate applies to your purity. The office is on the Noida Extension page. Home pickup is also possible, and the same three numbers apply there: the test and the weighing happen in front of you.
Hindi works as well as English. If you prefer it, see our gold bechna hai page for how the visit goes in Hindi. Purana sona is no different from any other gold here. The same three numbers apply.
What should I do if the three numbers do not satisfy me?
Take the gold back and leave. You are not obliged to sell because the piece has been weighed or tested. A buyer who is comfortable with their numbers does not mind this. A buyer who becomes uneasy when you ask has shown you something.
If you are comparing, you may also want to ask what else is on offer, such as a gold loan instead of a sale. That decision is yours, and it can wait.
Questions people ask
What should I ask a buyer before I sell my gold? Ask for the purity on the karatmeter screen, the weight after stones and clasps are taken out, and the rate for that purity. Those three numbers decide the payout.
Why is the weight at the shop less than my own scale showed? Stones, meena, lac and sometimes clasps are not gold and are not paid for as gold. Ask the buyer to show the full weight and the weight after those parts are removed.
Can I check the numbers before I go anywhere? Yes, partly. You can read the published rate online and call or WhatsApp 9217742656 to ask how the test and weighing are done. Purity and weight can only be confirmed with the piece in front of someone.
